Dennis Bye ('65)was the team MVP in 1964 and 1965 under Coach Greg Myers. A native of Tinton Falls, NJ, Bye played four years of varsity soccer and was one of two underclassmen responsible for convincing Hunter "Doc" Davis to launch the team and serve as its head coach. Bye later went onto coach high school soccer in Vermont for seven years prior to returning to his native New Jersey where he is a guidance counselor at a local high school.
Ralph Baranski, a native of Krakow, Poland, played midfield and forward for the Senators during the 1989 and 1990 seasons. He later transferred to Monmouth University (NJ) for his final year of eligibility and was instrumental in leading the Hawks to post-season play in 1992. Ralph lives in San Francisco with his girlfriend, Caroline.
Leacroft Barnaby('80) stands alone on the Jamaican front as one of the toughest defenders to dig into the clay for D&E. A man of deep baritone wisdom and strength, Lee has been back to Elkins the past four years to re-unite with old teammates and deliver the good-natured memories of "One Love" soccer to the current brethren of the team.
Lee resides in Copiague, New York and plays in a master's soccer league that has selected athletes to travel to Jamaica to play in tournaments.
Jorge Bergen('75) wrote to us from his home in Arlington, TX and has plans to join the 2003 Alumni Reunion in Elkins. Jorge played under coach Fred Schmaltz and was a NAIA All-Tournament Team and WVIAC All-Conference selection.
Bob Bigney('83) has been involved in youth soccer and coaching education for over 25 years. He resides in Arlington, Va., where he recently became the Technical Director for the Arlington Soccer Association.
Some of his fondest memories include seeing Kendall Walkes show up late for pre-season training wearing hot-pink soccer shorts, coach Scotty Smyth's pre-game remarks to the lads during the 1983 NCAA National Finals, when he ordered "there will be no smiling in this meeting", thereby eliciting the response from the Caribbean contingent, "How can you tell an mon not to smile - a mon is a mon, mon!". Given the language barriers and absence of a few pints of Guinness, coach Smyth stormed out of the room and motivated the lads to finish 3rd in the nation.
Colin Bricknell('98) first came to D&E as an impressionable young man from Oshawa, Canada. Travelling south with ice skates and boots, Colin immediately created a niche for himself and became the playmaker that the Senators needed. Upon graduating in 1997, Colin entered West Virginia University to pursue a Master's degree in Education. He, too, has been back to campus for every reunion since 1998 and once brought his twin brother which created a riot among the Phi Mu's. 'Nuff said.
David Brun('96) has a soccer career only some can attain much less rival. Rumour has it that after failing to impress Freddy Rincon and the rest of the Colombian FA on a trial, Dave packed his bags and returned to his native home in Virginia Beach, VA. A gifted coach and teacher, Dave has worked with kids for years and has a true passion for the game. He is currently teaching and coaching in Virginia Beach.
Jim Bushyeager('64) scored D&E's first goal against West Virginia University in the fall of 1961, and looks as if time has never passed him by! We met up with Jim in 2001 for Doc Davis's reunion and he told us that he enjoys life in Florida under the sun. He would love to hear from old friends.
Adam Baumgardner('04) played soccer under Mark Stolesteimer for four years between 2001-04. A native of Purcellville, Va., Adam told us that his fondest memories have come since he became an assistant coach at D&E for the Fall 2005 season. Adam is proud of the teams' record in the conference as well as against some of the nation's the top 25 schools. His highlight was seeing the team defeat Charleston and Shepherd.
Michelle Brose('06) Coming Soon!
